An archival enclosure is a specialized container for protecting your historical treasures. This workshop is designed for home collections and small institutions with limited budgets to learn how to rehouse books and paper-based materials that require archival enclosures.

We will discuss what enclosure best fits your item, how to measure your item, and options for purchasing enclosures. Additionally, we will get “hands-on” and make a one-piece corrugated clamshell box. Plan to bring a bound item, no larger than 8” high or 5” wide, and 1”- 3″ thick, to make a clamshell box for. All other materials will be provided.

This workshop will be led by Nicole Alvarado, Book & Paper Conservator, UCLA Library / Preservation & Conservation.

Location in Central Library is MEETING ROOM A

This workshop is brought to you by Los Angeles Preservation Network. For more information on our organization, please visit lapnet.org.
