NEW WORKSHOP! BASIC ENCLOSURES FOR LIBRARY BOOKS AND DOCUMENTS

PROGRAM: 9:00 AM TO 1:00 PM

Half Day – 4hrs, maximum 8 participants

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM

This is a hands-on workshop where participants will learn to create basic 4-flap (Tux box) archival enclosures for library bound/unbound objects.  Instructor will demonstrate how to measure, cut, fold and use adhesives, and the participants will take home two finished enclosures and basic tools for creating future enclosures. Other examples of enclosures will also be shown during the workshop.

 Instructor:  Asa Yoshie received an MFA in Book Arts and Printmaking from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She previously worked at the Huntington Library as a conservation technician. Asa currently resides in San Diego and operates her own studio while teaching the art of books to the local community.

Who should attend? Library, archives, and other repository staff who have responsibility for the care of rare books, manuscript and object collections.
