California Revealed is a State Library-supported project to help California’s heritage institutions digitize and provide long-term access to their historically significant Californiana (e.g., books, documents, newspapers, audiovisual recordings). Currently, over 80 partners are digitizing more than 10,000 objects, greatly enriching the California Light and Sound collection.
If you have Californiana you want to digitize and made available online through this project, attend one of our free summer workshops! Our next round of nominations will be due in late September, and it’s open to all cultural heritage institutions – libraries, museums, archives and historical societies.
The workshop will prepare attendees to take advantage of free digitization services for their institutions’ local and statewide California history materials. Workshop attendees will learn general best practices for description, digitization, quality control, and digital preservation.
