The Pepperdine Libraries are pleased to announce a one-day symposium, Balancing Preservation and Access in the Twenty-First Century.
While collecting institutions have always navigated the tensions between preservation and access, the twenty-first century has introduced a range of new affordances and challenges. Featuring plenary speaker Michèle Cloonan (Dean Emerita and Professor, Simmons University School of Library and Information Science), this one-day symposium will also bring together panelists from institutions across Southern California to discuss shifting theoretical and technological frontiers governing how rare materials are preserved, housed, and used in contemporary cultural heritage institutions.
